We're starting a new series of blog posts where we track the winning round of the past weekend's PGA Tour event. In our fifth post, we're taking a look at Sungjae Im's 66 (-4) at PGA National aka The Bear Trap to win by 1 stroke.
You can see the tracked round here in the Wasted Shots app:
Everyone said they wanted to see bad shots on TV, and The Bear Trap delivered. Im played a great round to earn his first PGA tour win. We figured that Im though he'd have to go low to win, so we set his goal score at 66. Here's how he did...
* Sungjae is a great ball striker and had a great day off the tee to avoid all the trouble that PGA National threw at the field. His second shot on the par 5 #3 helped him beat his approach shot goal.
* At first glance, his scrambling was a bit off today, as he left a lot of pitches to the 10-15 foot range, but managed to make all of those. It actually let him mask some of the short putt issues he had on the back 9.
Overall, Sungjae met the goals we set for him, and was the best in the field on an extremely tough track. Congrats Sungjae, and enjoy Augusta!
